Strawberry Topping

Strawberries - Fresh, Sliced

 Instructions


  1. Slice strawberries.
  2. Add sugar and toss. Allow to sit for 10 minutes to release juices.
  3. Refrigerate until serving.
  4. If strawberries do not produce enouch liquid, crush some of them.

Shortcake Dough

Cup Butter - Unsalted, Cold and Cubed

Cup Milk

tsp Vanilla Extract

 Instructions


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter cubes and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla until just combined.
  5. Drop dough onto a baking sheet in 6 equal portions.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Serve with whipped cream. Slice shortcakes in half, layer with strawberries and whipped cream, then top with the other half.
