Soft Sugar Cookies (Cutouts)

Cookie Dough
Cream together:
1 - Cup Soft Butter
1 - Cup Sugar
Add and cream:
2 Eggs
1 - TSP Vanilla
Mix in:
3 - Cups Flour
2 ¼ Tsp Baking Powder
½ - Tsp Salt
Mix in:
2 - Tbs Milk
- Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients.
- Chill dough.
- Roll out into 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick sheet. Thicker is better.
- Cut into shapes.
- Bake at 375o until slightly brown. Do not burn.
- Cool and Frost.
Frosting
2 - Cups Powdered Sugar
2 - Tbs Melted Butter
3 - Tbs Whole Milk (more can be added if needed)
- 1/2 Tsp Vanilla
- - - Food Coloring (as needed)
More milk may be added if frosting is too thick. Use a butter knife or spatula to spread frosting onto sugar cookies. Add decorative sprinkles while frosting is still wet.
Lara Black Recommends:
- Add 1/2 tsp almond extract to the cookie dough recipe.
- In the frosting recipe flavoring, change flavoing to 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp almond extract.
- If you want to dip the cookies instead of spreading frosting, add a bit more milk and make the frosting into a liquid frosting. Dip the cookies and place on parchmento to dry. Piping can be added later once the dip frosting has dried.
