Chili

1          -           pound              ground beef

1          -           -                       large onion - finely chopped

1          -           -                       green pepper - finely chopped

3          1/2       cup                  canned tomatoes - (2  -  28  oz.  cans)

1          1/2       cup                  dark red kidney beans (2 - 15 oz. cans)

-           -           -                       salt - to taste

-           -           -                       pepper - to taste

3          -           -                       whole cloves

1          -           -                       bay leaf

1          1/2       tablespoons     chili powder - (use more if you like!)

-           1/8       teaspoon          paprika

-           1/8       teaspoon          cayenne (watch out for this one - it is HOT!)

 

A)  Brown  beef. Drain excess fat.

B)  Add  chopped  onions  and  green pepper. Sauté.

C)  Add salt and pepper to taste.

D)  Add  tomatoes, beans,  and  spices. Cook over medium heat until done.

 

Optional:  Add frozen corn or substitute corn for meat

Serving suggestion:  Serve with corn bread.
